LOOKING AHEAD
Fasting This Week
This week we continue the Great Lenten Fast. Tuesday through Friday, we keep a strict fast, abstaining from meat (beef, chicken, pork, etc), dairy (cheese, milk, butter), eggs, fish (fish with backbones; shellfish is always permitted), olive oil and wine (some say all alcoholic beverages). Monday, the Feast of the Annunciation to the Theotokos, there is an allowance for fish, olive oil and wine. Saturday and Sunday, there is an allowance for olive oil and wine. Have a blessed and spiritually joyous and fruitful fast!
